In my 21 years at BlueBridge, I’ve never seen a proliferation of IT Service organizations – MSPs and MSSPs like this year. The first thing that has my head shaking is that few, if any, of the new or existing firms have any formal third-party audits in place. Often, operating under the myth is that SOC audits and such are for facilities only. Your auditors, customers, and insurance companies will increasingly be looking for these audits and carefully inspecting any exceptions and the controls audited themselves. For 17 of my 21 years here, I have run the audits by myself, and now over the last few years via committee. The audited services we can deliver grow each year. We have just begun our audit period with Readiness Assessments- adding requested or needed controls and closely working with the auditors on where we can use movement of better awareness. We must always remain teachable to maintain operational excellence.
